Everything was excellent, no complaints, I can just recommend it. My stay was quite comfortable of the night and morning. The location was great, just off town Centre and Gorge, shops, art gallery, museum and attractions, and shops/restaurants, in a pretty nice area.

We had a compact and updated room, also there were a lounge and a kitchen area. The bed seemed extremely comfy and it was clean all around...

It had free internet. While it was pretty sub-standard in almost every other respect (lack of heating, breakfast and room servicing; dozy desk staff, poor tv reception, etc.) the fact that broadband access was free was a huge boon. I almost shifted to the much swankier Grand Chancellor next door, but discovered that if I had, broadband for the duration of my 5-night stay would have cost nearly $100 - so putting up with a small degree of inconvenience and inefficiency was worth it, for me.
It's a budget hotel and back-packer hostel: you can't expect much for $80 a night. I was annoyed that the tv didn' work and that it took 24 hours to fix teh fault, and was surprised that the staff didn't make the beds, replace the towels and vacuum at all - but you get what you pay for. The worst thing in the end was teh lack of heating (I stayed in July). I had a small and totally inadequate portable heater for three days. I asked for and was given a second (efficient) heater on day 4 and thereafter was ok. But the place is run in a friendly but slapdash way that is certainly inefficient. If I hadn't paid in advance (and was overcharged $185 - a mistake the management noticed and rectified before I even noticed) I probably would have left early. But in the end it was acceptable if irritating.

Good location, easy walking distance to shops, cafes etc.
Very noisy hotel guests meant that we slept very poorly. Guests returning late were yelling and jumping down the halls. We couldn't get any hot water in our ensuite shower (both night and morning) so had to make do with a lukewarm one.
